FREEWORLD RECORDING NEWS --
We've FINALLY finished recording our new CD, and we're presently shopping it around to various local, regional & national record labels for a scheduled release sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2008!! Yep, that's right - and we were SOOOO FORTUNATE to have Producer Extraordinaire & Memphis Music Iconoclast Jim Dickinson produce our 5th full length CD. (In case you don't know Jim, he's produced, performed &/or recorded with artists such as Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave, Arlo Guthrie, The Replacements, Big Star, Ry Cooder, & his sons The North Mississippi Allstars among MANY others!) Check out his bio & resume at: http://www.zebraranch.com/jim_bio.htm &/or http://www.zebraranch.com/resume.htm

An important bill will be considered in Congress this month and your help is needed.

The Recording Academy and its sister charity MusiCares have been strong advocates for the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act - H.R.1424. This legislation would work to end insurance discrimination against people with mental illness and addiction, and thus allow more music people in crisis to access the critical treatment they deserve. The Act has passed the Senate and will be considered by the House of Representatives soon.

You can help make the difference and help pass this important bill so vital to our community. It only takes a few minutes to contact your representative in Congress. Simply click the following link to begin: http://capwiz.com/grammy/callalert/index.tt?alertid=11090911&type=CO

Thank you for your help advocating on behalf of the music community.

There is a new website that can do just that, and you can link to it here at http://www.qtrnote.com.  We have ALL our music there (as do many other Memphis Artists) and we should all support a company willing to promote the best of what Memphis Musicians have to offer! Please visit their website and check it out.

FreeWorld Rocks The Beale Street Music Festival
Beale crowd breaks record 108,00 jam in two days. Read the entire Beale Street Music Festival Music Review from the Commercial Appeal
here.

FreeWorld can easily be called the tightest jam band in Memphis ...They mesmerize audiences with their free-form funk/soul/fusion ....This hip band should be headlining out on the H.O.R.D.E. tour. --
Nancy Apple

...while the faces have changed, the band has still managed to consistently improve, something that is especially evident on their recordings. FreeWorld's latest, Diversity, is the best of the three discs the band has cut so far...Diversity shows off the band's best ... with the catchy "D-Up" being a particular favorite. As for the jams, instead of focusing on noodling that is best appreciated live, this time out the band thankfully reined it to make room for the 15 quality compositions. --
Mark Jordan

FreeWorld's forte is getting the funk out, and that's precisely what they do on their best tracks.... reminds me of a cross between Traffic and George Clinton, with its ecstatic Ur-groove, flute-player-on-acid vibe, and exuberant shouted chorus....lyrics seem almost incidental in the face of this lavish musical blitz. --
Stephen Grimstead

The overall sound of (Diversity) to me sounds like the perfect mix of what would happen if Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, and Widespread Panic had a baby.--
JamBands.com

Get down with the most versatile band in Memphis. That is what I do every time I experience FREEWORLD either live or on their latest CD called "DIVERSITY". When I listened to this CD for the first time, I had to do a double take to make sure that this was the same CD playing. Never have I seen so much variety from one band.--
Memphis Dave

Thanks to everyone who called in a pledge of support for the Soul-A-Thon on Soul Classic 103.5FM! They used our recently recorded tune "Save Our Soul" (featuring special guest James Govan on lead vocals) as this year's theme song. You can still support Soulsville, USA by purchasing your own personal copy of "S.O.S." at Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street.

To help Soulsville continue its mission of preserving and promoting our rich soul music heritage at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, and to mentor at-risk inner city children through music education at the Stax Music Academy, please visit our website or send your tax-deductible contribution to:
